Nathan Associates is seeking an Agriculture Policy Expert in Southern Africa for upcoming agricultural-related opportunities.
Qualifications
The Agriculture Policy Expert will provide overall technical direction on agricultural-related topics; increase smallholder incomes, promote private sector investments; serve as key liaison with donors, national level and government stakeholders, and implementing partners; and transform agriculture into a market-oriented, competitive, high-value sector. The positions require significant coordination skills as well as broad general and technical agricultural knowledge.
- Master’s degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, ag-investment promotion, international trade, or other related degree OR a Bachelors degree with 15 years of similar experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience working at the policy level in areas related to agriculture, agribusiness, economic growth, trade, or similar.
- At least 5 years experience working in east African countries (particularly: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana)
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas including: agriculture and trade policy, SME, private sector development, agribusiness, ag-investment promotion, value chain competitiveness, public-private partnerships
- Extensive experience working with senior policymakers and governmental leaders in quasi-diplomatic roles
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong writing and administrative skills required
- Fluency in written and spoken English required; Portuguese preferred.
