Finance and Administrative Officer

D-tree International is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of health care available to the world’s poor by using hand held technology to provide accurate and effective point-of-care diagnosis and treatment. Our vision is to equip frontline health workers with the tools they need to deliver first-class, evidence-based medical care to all patients. We are pursuing this vision by putting easy to use guidelines for diagnosis and treatment on mobile phones for use by health workers. The symptom-based protocols guide the user through a series of questions leading to an accurate diagnosis and treatment for each patient.
We are seeking a Finance and Administrative Officer to provide general support to a small team of technical staff in our Lilongwe office and ensure the smooth, daily operations of the organization. Position will be responsible for human resources, bookkeeping, administration and office management tasks. We are looking for a candidate who is able to juggle many tasks at once and willing to jump in and help out with anything necessary to get project work completed.
We seek a candidate who is motivated, efficient, organized, result-oriented, eager to learn, a team player (ideally, candidate would be interested in the field of healthcare and technology) and has attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility. The position will require working closely with the D-tree team to support our programs in the field.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a candidate who is willing to take on any tasks that are required to make our projects successful. This will include:
Human Resources and Accounting
  • Financial management (including Quickbooks)
  • Payroll and HR administration
  • Coordination of financial matters with headquarters, including month end and quarter end closings
  • Ensuring adherence to D-tree financial, HR policies/procedures and local employment laws
  • Filing management (personnel files, inventory, contracts, etc.)
Other
  • Office management (rent, bills, security, maintenance, etc.)
  • Training preparations (photocopying, preparing phones, etc.)
  • Procurement (furniture, fixtures, office supplies, etc.)
  • Occasional field travel to help administer trainings
  • Other tasks assigned by Country Manager
Required Skills and Experience
  • Education: minimum Bachelor ‘s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience with accounting and Quickbooks software essential
  • Language: Excellent written and spoken English and Chichewa
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Word/Excel/Internet
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Result-oriented, responsible and strong attention to detail
