Lusophone Curriculum Design Specialist

ICAP at Columbia University (CU) seeks a Lusophone Curriculum Design Specialist to support the revision of a Portuguese-language curriculum for an accredited healthcare management and administration ( HMA) degree program in Mozambique.
This position is contingent upon project award and funding.
Major Accountabilities
  • Revise the existing HMA curriculum, transforming it into a two-track curriculum with a strategic healthcare management track and a hospital administration track
  • Develop teaching strategies based on education theory and evidence-based practices related to education, as well as the consideration of learners’ cultural backgrounds and past educational, clinical and life experiences
  • Ensure that the curriculum reflects current HMA trends, community and societal needs, and education principles, theory and research
  • Use assessment and evaluation strategies to evaluate available resources for learner assessment and evaluation, select appropriate assessment instruments, create assessment instruments to evaluate educational outcomes, and use assessment and evaluation data to make recommendations for enhancing the teaching-learning process
  • Recommend evidence-based resources to improve and support teaching
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Education
  • A Master’s degree in healthcare management, health sector management, health systems administration, hospital management or related subject area
Experience, Skills & Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design and competency-based curriculum development
  • At least three years of experience teaching courses in the field of HMA
  • At least five (5) years of experience living or working in a developing country
  • Fluent English/Portuguese oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office applications, especially Word
  • Previous experience in Mozambique or sub-Saharan Africa is preferred
