Each year a large number of scholarships for African women are offered by international and African institutions. In order to achieve African development, intellectual and learned upliftment of women must be given first concern because of their significant role in the community. Although, rising fees and limited monetary support make this a hard mission to achieve. To help African Women, our team have compiled a list of African and global scholarships for African women so as to allow them to boost their careers and undertake leadership roles for the betterment of their societies. Graça Machel Scholarships for Women
Canon Collins Educational and Legal Assistance Trust has announced Graca Machel Scholarships for African Women. Scholarships cover full tuition, stipend, mentoring and other support for Honours, masters and PhD study at South African universities. Applicants must apply to their chosen universities separately and awards are conditional on the applicant being offered a place at the relevant university. The application process will open in June 2014 and close in August 2014 for study commencing in 2015.

MMMF Grant for African WomenGrant is available for African women who are currently studying at the University of Witwatersrand, University Stellenbosch, University of Pretoria and University of Capetown. MMMF grants of approximately US$4,000 each will be awarded. Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory academic performance at the university where she is registered. Online application deadline is August 31, 2014.
Margaret Bennett Scholarship for African WomenLondon School of Economics and Political Science is offering Margaret Bennett scholarship for female students from Africa. Scholarship is available for pursuing masters (LLM) degree level at London School of Economics and Political Science. The scholarship has a value of up to £5,000. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of July 2014. The application deadline is 28 April each year.
African Union Scholarship for Female StudentsScholarships for African women are awarded to pursue postgraduate level for masters and PhD programmes at African Universities. The master programs are of two years duration; while the PhD programme are of three years duration. Applicants must have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by academic transcripts, and academic awards if any. Applicants can apply for this scholarship till 31st May 2014.
WAAW Foundation Scholarships for African WomenWAAW foundation is funding 2015 scholarships for African women. Scholarships amount $500/year for need-based female African students admitted to a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. Candidates must demonstrate financial need and excellent academic record. Special consideration is given to underprivileged students such as orphans, girls impacted by HIV or students in first or second year of study. Online applications start from August 1 through October 31, 2014.
Campbell Fellowship for Women Scholar-Practitioners, USA
Vera R. Campbell Foundation annually funds fellowship for women postdoctoral social scientist from developing countries. One nine-month fellowship is awarded for a project which addresses women’s economic and social empowerment in the applicant’s home country. In addition to a $4,500/month stipend and housing and office space on the SAR campus is provided to women. The application deadline is November 1 each year.

LUISS Business School MBA Scholarships for African WomenScholarships for African women are available for pursuing master degree at LUISS Business School of Rome. Two MBA scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will cover two thirds of the tuition fees, equivalent to 16,000.00 EUR. Application should be submitted till May 31, 2014.

Google is pleased to announce this scholarship for female students hail in Europe, Middle East and Africa who are enrolled in bachelors, masters or PhD program in Computer Science or related field. International Peace Research Association Foundation offers graduate fellowships for South African Women in the USA. Fellowships are provided in the field of Peace and Development Studies. The Dorothy Senesh Fellowship is available to women from developing countries, who have been accepted into a graduate program and whose graduate work is to be focused on issues related to the goals of IPRA. The foundation will award two fellowships $5,000. The application deadline is 15th January, each year.

UNU-INRA Visiting Scholars Programme for African WomenApplications are invited for UNU-INRA Visiting Scholarships to undertake a three-year project entitled “Unleashing the Potential of African Rural Economies through Green Growth”. Under the project, up to ten visiting scholars will be selected each year. These scholarships for African women are offered for 3-4 months. The application deadline is 31st August 2014 for the academic year 2014–2015.
Lila Fahlman Scholarships for African WomenScholarships for African women are available for pursuing full-time undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate programs at a Canadian college or university. Two scholarships of $1000 will be awarded. Applicants must be making a recognized positive contribution to society through civic engagement and/or volunteering experience. The application deadline is June 15, 2014.
IC4HD Human Development (HD) Fellowships for African WomenThe IC4HD Human Development is inviting applications for residential fellowships available for African women. This is 3 months residential fellowship for young professionals at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, India. The Fellowship covers the living expenses for the Fellow as well as a return airfare to the country of residence as per the most economical and direct route by air. Applications will close on June 15, 2014.
Robin Wright Graduate Fellowship for African StudentsThe Robin Wright Graduate Fellowship supports research by a graduate student from the Islamic World or Africa enrolled in the Rackham Graduate School up to $4,000. Particular attention will be given to research abroad. Preference will be given to graduate students pursuing research in international and global issues in the contemporary period. Applications will open in November 2014.
Chung-Liversidge Scholarships for African StudentsScholarships for African students are available for pursuing masters’ degree at University of Sheffield in UK. The Engineering scholarships are for one year only, regardless of the length of your programme. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal statement. The application deadline is 27th June 2014.
Cranfield MBA Scholarship for African Women Cranfield School of Management is offering Cranfield scholarship for African Women applicants in the UK. Scholarship covers up to £14,000 towards the tuition fees. Scholarship is awarded on the basis of evidence of career progression, senior management potential and interpersonal and team-working skills. GMAT and English language proficiency is required. Application deadline is June 1, 2014.
MBA Full-time Scholarship for African WomenUniversity of Strathclyde offers full-time scholarship for African women. One scholarship of £10,000 will be automatically deducted from tuition fees. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need. Online application deadline is 31 May 2014.
