JUNIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

SNV is a not-for-profit international development organization with long-term, local presence in over 30 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our team of advisors works with local partners to equip communities and businesses with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services. SNV works across three sectors: Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Several international donors fund our programmes. The Global Business Development team coordinates and supports proposal development across the organization.
THE ROLE
As Junior Business Development Officer you are part of the Global Business Development team, supporting sector and country teams in achieving SNV's goals of fund diversification and growth, quality programming and implementation. As a young professional within our team you will lead opportunity tracking and support the response to global tenders and calls and proposal development activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor donor websites and online platforms to track and identify opportunities of interest to SNV including forecast tenders and calls for proposals. Share intelligence and forecasts with sector and country colleagues.
- Support preparations for forecast tenders, including intelligence gathering, opportunity assessment, pre-positioning and partner identification, working closely with account managers, senior BD officers and global sector experts.
- Support proposal coordinators working on key tenders and grant applications: supporting partner negotiations and teaming agreements, compiling inputs of proposal team members, and readying key documents for technical/financial proposals for submission.
- Support SNV’s response to global calls for proposals, sharing early intelligence with sector teams and country offices, analyzing donor requirements, and supporting the internal review process.
- Support business improvement projects, including the development and roll out of new processes, procedures, tools and templates (within the team and to sector/country colleagues).
REQUIREMENTS
- Academic degree in international development, international studies or related. An academic degree relevant to one of SNV’s sectors (Agriculture; Renewable Energy; WASH) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in business development or resource mobilisation in the international development sector.
- Working experience in developing countries is desirable.
- Proactive, independent work approach and a high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work to deadlines supporting multiple proposals and shifting demands.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or French is an advantage.
CONTRACT PERIOD: 1 year initially, extendable
