Livelihoods and Food Security adviser: DFID Zimbabwe

The UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) Zimbabwe, wishes to appoint a Livelihoods and Food Security Adviser. This post will initially be for a fixed term of 2 years with the possibility of an extension thereafter. DFID is one of the largest bilateral donors in Zimbabwe, spending more than £105 million in 2013/14. The number of Zimbabweans dependent on food assistance has fallen dramatically from its peak of 6 million in 2008-09, to a low of just over 1 million in 2011-12. However, after 3 consecutive years of the numbers of food insecure reducing, a single poor harvest increased the numbers of food insecure by over sixty per cent in 2012-13. DFID’s focus has moved from supporting households to survive, to more empowering support to help them increase their resilience and move out of poverty.
Closing date for applications 12 noon 27 June 2014.
