The context
The Government of Malawi is still facing significant challenges in the area of public financial and economic management despite the progress that has been made in recent years. The project “Strengthening Public Financial and Economic Management in Malawi” takes a holistic approach, cooperating with institutions on both the income and expenditure sides of the budget and also supporting the internal and external audit functions.
Your role
Your support to the National Audit Office will include advisory services regarding awareness-raising and stakeholder dialogue on the role and independent status of a supreme audit institution. In addition, you will advise on strategic matters and support capacity building measures for improving the quality of audit work. Cooperation between the National Audit Office and regional and international initiatives will be of major importance.
Your profile
You hold a Masters Degree in law, economics, administration and/or political science and have proven experience in providing advice and strategic guidance to institutions, combined with in-depth knowledge of public financial systems and accountability mechanisms. Furthermore you have very good knowledge of international standards (INTOSAI, AFROSAI), in-depth work experience in German/international development cooperation and knowledge of GIZ instruments and standards. This position requires an excellent command of English; knowledge of German would be a great asset.
