Nutrition Specialist, Mozambique

The Nutrition Specialist will provide technical and program oversight and direction in the areas of nutrition for the program. This position will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of nutrition activities and ensures collaboration and coordination with the program team and partners. Essential Job Functions:
Collaborate with all local stakeholders and implementing partners, especially the Ministry of Health and other implementing partners, to ensure that all activities conform to the requirements and regulations;
Document and maintain an inventory of successful tools and approaches for nutrition
Supervise technical staff;
Work closely with the COP and DCOP on setting program priorities and directions based on the donor's requirements for nutrition in the project;
Work with M&E staff to design and implement a plan to track data and results related to nutrition within the Feed the Future M&E requirements;
Provide technical leadership to the development of the project strategic plan, work plan, and program monitoring;
Conducts the project nutrition needs assessment for project implementation according to the contract;
Ensures timely implementation of all program inputs related to nutrition, including implementing assessments, follow up and supervision, capacity building, etc.;
Assist in the preparation of donor reports and project reports;
Ensure availability of resources/facilitate the procurement of equipment and supplies required for project implementation;
Conduct regular reporting to the COP/DCOP and program and technical staff of successes, challenges, and lessons learned in implementation related to areas of technical expertise;
Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience:
A degree in nutrition or related field (medical degree; doctor or nursing; Master's in Public Health);
At least 7+ years' experience in programs that promote nutrition – including food production, food additives and supplements, public education and awareness, and applying clinical and preventive nutrition;
Experience in Southern Africa, international development programs;
Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills in English;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Fluency in English and Portuguese;
Demonstrated experience in USAID or other USG funded projects. Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience working on Feet the Future programs;
Extensive (5 + years) experience in Southern Africa, in international development programs;
Extensive (5 + years) experience in programs that promote nutrition in Mozambique . Success Factors:

An ability to work successfully in remote and challenging settings with limited resources. Travel Requirements:
