Basic Education Literacy Specialist – 1 post – Zomba - Save the Children
Applicants should have a Degree in Primary Education with languages as a major or a Bachelors degree in Humanities (majoring in Languages) plus University Certificate in Education (UCE) with at least 5 yrs experience as a teacher and 2 yrs as a Teacher trainer/educator, Skills and knowledge of teaching and assessing early graders in reading will be desirable
Reporting to the Basic Education Manager – Sponsorship, the Basic Education Literacy Specialist will be responsible for technical leadership of save the Children’s work to improve learning outcomes for children in early primary school, with a focus on literacy, she/he will develop annual plans and budgets; and coordinates implementation, monitoring and reporting of the same; and ensures that best practices are documented, disseminated and used to inform policies and practice at community, district and national level, While the incumbent does not have direct reportees, she/he is expected to work collegially with other team members to ensure effective synergies among the different Sponsorship Basic Education program activities that are implemented by Save the Children in Traditional Authority Chikowi, Zomba district, She/he will also be expected to closely work with partners at district and national levels
