Caretaker Plumber – Blantyre Water Board
Must have an MSCE with credits in English and Mathematics, Must have a Plumbing Certificate, City and Guilds Technician Certificate/Civil Engineering Certificate, Must have good communication and leadership skills, A valid Driving Licence, Minimum age of 22 yrs, Must have at least 3 yrs experience in plumbing or water engineering
Obtaining all changes and keeping records in terms of water use, flow and pressure of the assigned area network and network and reporting back to office, Supervising installation, improving, developing and maintaining the area network, Maintaining the existing valves and fire hydrants, keeping them in working order and ensuring where necessary easy access, Opening and closing the system and other valve manipulation, Repairing all mains with a diameter smaller than 150 mm, Checking building site or newly built household connections, Performing any other relevant and lawful duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Network Engineer from time to time, Communicating with other Caretakers to improve the system in general, Conducting bye-law inspection, Keeping GIS with GPS information up-to-date, Implementing real losses reduction program, Solving technical complaints from customers, Replacing faulty or obsolete water meters, Communicating with customers within assigned area on complaints and reporting to office, Disconnecting and reconnecting consumers on request of the back office, Checking illegal water use in an assigned area network
