Germany has been engaged in international cooperation with Tanzania on
behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
since 1975. Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (The German
international-GIZ) opened an office in Dar es Salaam in 1982. Working with
their respective partners to promote sustainable development in Tanzania.
Besides other projects GIZ supports and strengthens the capacities of the
African Court on Human and Peoples’
Rights in Arusha since April 2008.
To encourage cultural diversity, GIZ is offering places for internship
in the field of Information and Communication Technology. The intern will be
under the GiZ ICT Specialist supervision.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Internships are apprenticeship programmes that allow interns to gain
practical working experience and develop skills in areas of relevance to their
careers under the guidance of a qualified member of staff. Therefore, GIZ is
creating an opportunity for young individuals to be able to work in an
International environment so as to broaden the future chances in acquiring a
job.
AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY
a) The intern will have an opportunity to learn in the following areas
via hands-on methods
b) Have experience in providing users guidance and second level support
by assisting in problem resolution.
Coordinate the
process of adding and updating information to the website of the Court under
supervision of the ICT Specialist.
c) How to research emerging technologies to maintain the website (both
Internet and Intranet).
d)
How to maintain
systems (Microsoft) and network services(e.g. DNS, Active Directory, WINS,
SMTP, Web, Print, Terminal Server,Backup, Antivirus).
e)
How to maintain
desktop applications and services (e.g., Microsoft, Mac and Adobe applications,
Antivirus).
f) How provide assistance to users and administer user accounts,
mailboxes, and permissions.
g)
How to troubleshoot
application and infrastructure issues. h) How to install, configure, and
maintain Microsoftservers.
h) How to install, configure, and maintain Microsoft desktop systems.
i)
How to rebuild PC’s
with fresh installs of Windows XP Professional.
j)
How to create full
backups of systems using Ghost.
k) How to research new products and technologies.
a) The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
b) Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and their functionality;
c) Intermediate knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows systems and
Linux (RedHat/Debian or Centos);
d) Basic Knowledgein database application (MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft, SQL
Server 2005/2008)installation and basic maintenance;
e)
Technical ability
to repair and troubleshoot computer hardware,software, computer networking and
printers.
f) Profound understanding of technical manuals and schematics
g) Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks at the same time as
maintaining consistent results.
h) Good organizational and communication skills
i)
Extensive
experience with backup and image management software
j)
Conversant with and
able to troubleshoot Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007, Microsoft IE 6, 7 and 8
k)
Outstanding
communication skills to relate with team members and support workers Skilled in
time, priority and task management
l)
Ability to work
under supervision
m) Ability to learn and relate technical concepts promptly
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
An excellent command of English. Knowledge of Other languages is an
added advantage
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION.
Candidates must have a minimum of an advanced diploma in Computer
science/Information Technology. Certification in hardware and software support
(server, desktops, printers and laptops) is an added advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have a minimum of at least three months work
experience in IT related practice experience
AGE REQUIREMENT
Candidates must preferably be between 25 and 35 years old.
