Business Development Manager - Africa

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Entrepreneurial Finance Lab (EFL) is a financial-services company that creates technologies to measure risk in micro, small, and medium size enterprises. It helps banks across Latin America, Africa, and Asia to expand their SME portfolio and improve control over risk. EFL helps banks safely lend to entrepreneurs throughout the world.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
EFL is seeking a Business Development Manager - Africa. S/he will be responsible for managing and progressing the organization's relationships with prospective clients in East, West, and Southern Africa as well as supporting other African regions as required.  S/he will be responsible for navigating complex bank decision making processes and sales cycles. S/he will also perform additional roles and innovate as needed.   
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Sales:
    • Lead generation: reach out and secure introductions to decision makers at leading financial institutions across African target markets;
    • Sales and negotiations: pitch and evangelize the organization's tool to risk, business, and analytics team within lending institutions;
    • Implementation planning: deeply understand prospects’ business and develop compelling implementation strategies and corresponding value propositions that maximize the impact of the organization's tool. 
  • Marketing:
    • Brand building: build awareness of the organization across target markets through soliciting invitations to conferences and securing press coverage;
    • Sales materials: develop regional specific sales materials and proposals and explain complex concepts to multiple, varied constituencies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (master’s degree preferred);
  • 2-5 years work experience;
  • Experience in target regions will be strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrable sales experience, ideally to financial institutions;
  • Able to hunt, open, position, consult, and close deals from the C-level down;
  • Flexibility to work with disbursed teams and communicate effectively with colleagues across time zones;
  • Fluency in local languages is a significant plus.
