Global Health Corps believes that great ideas don’t change the world, great PEOPLE do! Fellows are selected based on their ability to fit the job description for the positions they apply to, and their fit with the GHC leadership practices. Fellows are placed in organizations in pairs – one international fellow and one local fellow from the placement country – creating a fellowship team that is a central part of the fellowship experience.
About the Fellowship Placement Organization:The Art & Global Health Center Africa (AGHCA) fosters creative leadership and implements innovative arts-based, health-oriented programs that inspire and mobilize. Three programs are at the core of our mission: Make Art/Stop AIDS (MASA), Students With Dreams (SWD) and Umunthu (UP). MASA addresses vital HIV and AIDS-related issues including gender inequality, stigma, and socio-economic challenges, while empowering people to take control over their health through prevention, testing, and treatment; SWD empowers young leaders to create and implement innovative programs in response to challenges they see in society; and UP brings voice to marginalized communities by using film as a catalyst for discussion on contentious human rights issues, which have implications on health. Our programs use collaboration to nurture healthy, empowered, open and active communities in Malawi.
