Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritious Foods, (1 Year Contract), Mozambique

GAIN fights malnutrition in Mozambique through innovative and sustainable models that increase access to affordable nutritious foods among communities vulnerable to malnutrition.
The GAIN Marketplace for Nutritious Foods ('Marketplace') is knowledge, networking and financing platform for local enterprises to improve the market availability of nutritious foods. It facilitates partnerships and knowledge sharing across the agriculture value chain and catalyzes innovations to improve the diets of ordinary Mozambicans.
The Project Manager will implement the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods project in Mozambique.
Responsibilities
  • Fulfil primary project management, reporting technical and financial documentation responsibilities for all GAIN, donor and Government of Mozambique requirements.
  • Implement and oversee the implementation of the project's main activities—Innovation Accelerator, Community of Practice, Technical Advisory Committee meetings, etc.
  • Act as point of contact between GAIN and Marketplace Grantees.
  • Create Terms of Reference, Granting Agreements, Terms Sheets, in accordance with GAIN requirements.
  • Ensure quality of business planning and technical assistance delivered to Marketplace grantees.
  • Support direct supervisor to liaise with the Marketplace Investment Committee (MIC).
  • Effectively manage performance of sub-contractors and technical consultants.
  • Report on the program progress, budget, and management of the funds, with support from direct supervisor.
  • Visits the field regularly to ensure that project progress is on track and risk mitigation plan is up to date.
  • Coordinate Monitoring & Evaluation activities with Monitoring, Learning and Research team.
Experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a leadership / management position.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging program environments.
  • Strong understanding of agribusiness in Mozambique.
  • Experience of delivering donor-funded programs highly desirable.
  • Experience in a global, multicultural organization.
  • Experience working in a public/private partnership environment highly desirable .
  • Private Sector experience highly desirable.
Skills & Attributes
  • Proven project management capabilities in a developing country setting, preferably Mozambique.
  • Experience in agriculture or business.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment, expert problem solving, and creativity.
  • Computer literacy with good Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point skills.
Education
  • A Master's Degree in health, nutrition, business administration, or a suitable equivalent is required.
  • Diploma or equivalent certification in project management is highly desirable.
Other requirements
  • Fluent written and verbal Portuguese and a good command of English .
  • A willingness and ability to travel in challenging environments.
