Malawi Office Registration Expert (STTA Consultancy), Malawi

Anticipated start date is January 5, 2015. Expected length of consultancy is 12 days. All work will be onsite in Lilongwe, Malawi. No travel to country will be offered with this consultancy.
Background
Global Communities is in the process of starting up the newly awarded Multi-region, AIMS, program that will have an office in Malawi. Global Communities is currently establishing new country registration and has no staff on the ground to assist with start-up. We require a consultant based in Malawi that can provide services relating to our in-country registration and who has a nuanced background of the local and state service sectors and strong institutional contacts.
Scope of Work
Draft, review, approve and/or sign documents that may include:
  • Documents that set up our legal registration: "Articles of Association", the bylaws, tax ID and exoneration, etc.;
  • Documents that pertain to board members or general assembly meetings: meeting minutes and resolutions that set forth or approve internal policies and procedures (for example personnel manual);
  • Documents that pertain to financial, legal and accounting transactions: requests to open bank accounts, etc.;
  • Employment contracts or service provider contracts that allow Global Communities Malawi to carryout day-to-day program and administrative activities.
  • Hold virtual board or general assembly meetings as required to carry out the organizational start-up in an effective and expedient manner.
Deliverables
  • Registration documents approved /signed and in order.
  • Board meeting documents including internal policies and procedures therein approved/signed and in order.
  • Legal, financial, and accounting documents signed and in order.
  • Attend board meetings and draft meeting minutes
Qualifications
  • Fluent English
  • Malawian Citizen
  • Demonstrated experience working with Malawian laws related to the registration of international NGOs
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in international development or a related subject
  • Experience in working with international NGOs
  • Fluency in English required
