Social Development Officer
COMSIP Cooperative Union Limited is a member owned organisation registered under the Cooperative Act 1998. The union is coordinating the implementation of the livelihood and Skills development component of the MASAF 4 project implemented by the local Councils through Local Development Fund- TST. The union would like to recruit a Social Development officer on a fixed term contract to be based at the union Head Office in Lilongwe with frequent travels to different district councils and COMSIP groups/Cooperatives across the country
Will be responsible for social mobilisation, tracking the performance of the livelihood and Skills development component including performance on safeguard management by the various COMSIP groups and Cooperatives. She/he will also ensure stakeholder compliance to the requirement of the Union in terms of timely reporting, engagement of community members in management of their groups/cooperatives and the environment
Liaise with district councils DESC under the chairmanship of the EDO, on capacity building of extension workers, groups, cooperatives on environment and social safeguards, Monitor the performance of group/cooperatives in the implementation of COMSIP activities including safeguards in liaison with the district LED teams, Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual programme performance reports, Driving the social mobilisation, M&E and safeguards function of the organisation in a professional and competent manner, preparing, management of the social mobilisation, M & E an safeguard work plan and budgets, Facilitate the preparation and interpretation of Baseline and Impact studies, In liaison with the training dept build capacity of stakeholders on the tracking systems, developed specifically to track performance of COMSIP activities at all levels including safeguards tracking , Preparing and updating the Results Framework in line with donor requirement
Good communication and interpersonal skills, self-starter who works with minimum supervision, Ability to meet deadlines and targets, Knowledge of Baseline and impact study design and interpretation of results, Strong practical knowledge and understanding of the environment and social issue regarding small scale enterprises in Malawi, Strong knowledge of M&E framework development and implementation, Strong knowledge of decentralised development planning and decentralised environmental management framework, Excellent analytical skills and report writing competencies, Computer practical knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project and statistical packages, A team player and ability to contribute to programming of activities
University Degree preferably in Social Sciences, Agriculture Economics those with practical knowledge in decentralised planning and environmental management have added advantage, At least 3 yrs experience in monitoring social projects at grass root levels, Sound background in working with a multidisciplinary team members
