The Royal United Services Institute was formed in 1831. It is a research based institute in the field of defence and security studies, and employs over 50 people and is based in Whitehall, London.
Professor Michael Clarke, who has led RUSI over the last 8 years, has overseen a major transformation in both RUSI’s profile and reputation to become one of the world’s leading Think Tanks.
The role of the DG/CEO is to provide RUSI with strategic leadership at a time of significant change. This is now an opportunity to lead RUSI through the next stage of its development and growth, helping it to enhance its global standing and reputation, ensuring the overall quality of the research output, improving the services it provides to its members and extending the range of RUSI’s successful commercial operations.
Having recently acquired the freehold of its Grade 2 listed headquarters building in Whitehall, the DG/CEO will also be required to take overall responsibility for the process of developing this new asset, ensuring it provides a secure financial future for RUSI in the years ahead.
The successful candidate will be required to develop RUSI’s International presence, developing opportunities for growth and collaboration. He or She will have academic recognition, strong media and communications skills with a proven management track record and commercial experience.
