Services Technician – Paladin(Africa) Limited – Kayelekera Mine, Karonga 

Invites applications from suitably qualified male of female Malawian nationals for the post of Services Technician.  Will report to the Mechanic/Auto-electrician 

Key objective is to be the service technician for grease and lubrication of all light vehicles, generating sets, mobile plant and equipment and diesel pumping sets and all other equipment under the utilities section.  Independently servicing and cleaning of all equipment and assist the site mechanics and auto electrician in mechanical repairs, carryout daily checks and monitoring of all equipment on the mine site and monitor, change and repair all tyres.  The position requires the need for cooperation with other depts to ensure that needs re met in accordance with budgets, standard operating procedures and Health and Safety requirements

Perform field level risk assessments, All greasing requirements for all plant and equipment, General servicing and lube changes on all equipment, Assisting all mechanics with daily maintenance tasks, Maintenance of all equipment tyres within the mobile equipment fleet, aiming to reduce unplanned tyre maintenance and optimise availability at the lowest total ownership cost, Identify and analyse premature tyre//rim component failure utilising root cause/Tap root analysis, Complete required diagnostics and safety checks on tyres/components as required, Comply with all statutory and legislative requirements, Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines, Provide appropriate on-the-job training and mentoring to less experience personnel, demonstrate by example a high level of housekeeping and environmental awareness with an emphasis on hydrocarbon disposal and management, Implementation and execution of all tasks and
instructions as instructed by Superiors 

Certificate of basic EM tyre basics, Trade qualification (Light vehicle – Diesel) or 5 yrs experience with no trade qualifications, Lubrication training and understanding of lubrication systems, Conversant with tyre failure diagnostics and tyre repairs and repair equipment, Experience of mobile mining equipment, diesel generating and pumping sets, light vehicles and business, Strong regard for processes and policies compliance
