Communications Officer
DAI – Motto – Shaping a more livable world
Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party (Nutrition and local institutional Capacity building) , the Communications Officer will work closely with project Component Leads, all technical officers as well as project implementing partners (IPs) in the planning, design, development, production and dissemination of messages and communication materials on agriculture value chains, nutrition, village savings platforms, gender, local and institutional capacity building and any other activities aimed at promoting the corporate image of the project. The communications officer will ensure that the messages and communication materials align with key line govt ministries’ USAAID donor objectives, strategies and approaches
Assist in the production and dissemination o articles, success stories, brochures, extension bulletins, and any other publicly related materials for project activities including the partners, Develop story lines, analyse, interpret and report on data for the project, Assist in the development, finalization and formatting of work plans and ensure timely submission to the components Leads for review, and financial submission to COP, Synthesise, edit and condense diverse and complex project Component Chapters’ various progress reports into quarterly draft reports and ensure timely submission to COP, Produce articles, posters, folders and creative power point presentations for the project and ensure their timely uploading of all project materials, and reports projects (DAI) website, Collaborate with our IPs, mentoring them in the creation of publicity materials across a broad spectrum designed to create a positive image and improved visibility for projects
and its implementing partners, take a leading role in USAID branding and marking for the project
Solid and proven track record in developing articles, success stories, brochures, extension bulletins, and any other publicity related materials, Strong interpersonal, public speaking and creative writing skills, e.g. script development for video production and radio jingles and PSAs, Adept at managing multidimensional partnerships and creating and maintaining a positive image within the context of less than perfect information and under a tight deadline, Someone who is capable of seeing ideas, and converting them into aesthetic messages for mass media (TV, Radio, internet, Theatre etc) as well as print media (newspapers, magazines, briefs and including scholarly publications etc0, Skilled enough in creative script and video development/production (can take and edit videos) for e-diffusion as well as videos/pictures burned to DVD, Capable of working independently and with minimal supervision, Ability to motivate, inspire and lead the team, Ability to
meet tight deadlines and work under pressure, Should be self starter, creative, technologically savvy, passionate hardworking and self-motivated university graduate, Excellent listener, communicator and inclusive, participative and team player, Able to read, write, speak Chichewa and English proficiently
Bachelors Degree in Communication or any other relevant field, At least 3yr experience in communication (message development, materials development etc), Those in their early career and unafraid of travel to the rural areas of our impact districts
Preference will be given to female Malawian candidates with excellent references, All candidates should present a multi-media portfolio of their work and include writing samples
