Deputy Logistics Coordinator – Blantyre – MSF Belgium
Medecins Sans Frontieres-Belgium is an international, medical, non-governmental humanitarian organisation working in Malawi in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and population in integrated HIV/AIDS projects
Reporting to the Logistics Coordinator the position is based in Limbe/Blantyre with many movements within and outside of Malawi
Support the Logistics Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities and replace him in his/her absence
In general terms, the Deputy Logistics Coordinator will participate and collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator in the definition and implementation of all technical and logistics strategies and support to the MSF medical program. This implies ensuring the pertinence and coherence of logistics responses, the adequacy of the means provided and the compliance of MSF policies, in order to enable the development of the mission and optimise the impact of the medical projects
Participate actively in the definition and update of annual project planning and budgets, Translate identified logistical/technical needs into objectives, priorities and resources needed, Monitor implementation of logistics/technical activities in the mission (construction and rehabilitation, transport, communications, IT, water and sanitation, equipment/installation and infrastructures etc), Plan and supervise in close collaboration with the HR Coordinator, the associated logistics staff processes in the mission (recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, detection of potential, development and internal communication), Define and monitor technical aspects of the risk reduction policy, transport, communication, security, fraud and contingency plan, Ensure technical reference for all logistics/technical issues in the mission and provides coaching to staff, Represent MSF in meetings with Authorities and other NGOs for technical/logistics related issues, at the request of the Logistics Coordinator
Essential working experience of at least 2 yrs in relevant jobs, experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries , Desirable proven understanding of MSF Field medical operations
Essential Technical/Logistics Degree/Diploma, Computer literacy
Good communication and reporting skills, Natural leadership, Good organisational and planning skills, Strong inter-cultural sensitivity, Ability to work under pressure, Fluency in English and Chichewa, written and spoken
