Emmanuel International Malawi (EIM) is a fath based organisation worign with rural communities of Southern Malawi in Relief and Development since 1987.  Emmanuel International in partnership with Project Concern International (PCI) has received funding from USAID to implement Njira Project – Pathways to Sustainable Food Security.  Njira project is focusing on Health, Agriculture and livelihoods. , Disaster Risk Reduction and cross cutting issues which includes Gender, governance and Environment (addressing issues of deforestation and watershed management through promotion of ecological stoves).  The project will be implemented in Balaka and Machinga Districts by Project Concern International (PCI) and Emmanuel International respectively 

In an effort to build up its team of dedicated staff the following position is available for immediate filling 

Grants Officer - Emmanuel International Malawi (EIM)

Position aims to provide grants management support to Emmanuel international operations in order to ensure the achievement of NJIRA project objectives

The grant Officer will also be responsible for the overall management of administration finance and compliance of NJIRA Program, S/he will be responsible for ensuring that the services in these areas are delivered efficiently and effectively, providing accurate and timely operational information/reporting for quality management implementation, planning, directing and controlling activities in support of program operations 

Plan and manage implementation of the grants for NJIRA program in EI/Malawi and their subsequent close out, Ensure compliance with USG regulations applicable to cooperative agreement, Ensure accountability and compliance with Emmanuel International policies and procedures, Adopt, analyse and review of Sub-recipient agreement, Ensure receipt and maintenance of all Sub-recipient agreements and supporting documents, Maintain field of required financial compliance documentation, review documentation for potential issues, make recommendations to the NJIRA Program Manager and the Senior Management Team for improvements and action to be taken, Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external customers, 

To build  the capacity of the Program Manager and sector coordinators to link budgeting and accurate budget management with program outputs, Verify Requisition for Goods and Services and Payment Requests, Prepare cash forecast for NJIRA project based on Program’s cash forecast and work plans, Ensure that cash requests are consistent with agreement terms, o establish where necessary and to maintain , in co-operation with the finance team, effective systems to ensure that all expenditure is budgeted, reasonable, allocable , allowable and authorised, Monitor and validate advances to  and liquidations from members of staff, Prepare, in co-operation with program staff, budgets ad revised budgets for the projects, Monitor expenditure against budget and ensure action is taken to avoid exceeding budget, When budgets are revised/modified with USG ensure action is take to avoid exceeding budget, When budgets are revised/modified with USG ensure that Emmanuel
 International reflect any updates through the use of budget maintenance, Keep track of funds obligated to-date by USAID, Take an active role in inventory planning and management, Responsible for accounting and recordkeeping of all properties, inventories and fixed assets,

Bachelors of Accountancy Degree from a recognised University or part 2 ACCA or equivalent required, Demonstrated 5 yrs experience in USAID cooperative agreement or contract, Excellent written and oral communication skills required, Proven in-depth knowledge of Malawi Laws/Acts, USG policies and regulations, Strong management and decision-making skills, self-motivated, able to work independently and proactively, Excellent organisation and planning skills, detail oriented, adaptable, flexible, Patience and perseverance in understanding and explaining issues with EI staff, Excellent command in Microsoft Office Suite
