Finance officer, Malawi

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and we believe that vision can become a reality. We are striving to bring lasting change to the lives of the poorest communities. We work wherever there is great need, helping people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion, caste or creed. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
We are looking for a financial professional to contribute to the effective management of the Christian Aid programme in Malawi in the role of Finance Officer. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional that will support the accounting, reporting and administration of financial procedures.
The ideal candidate essentially should possess a degree in Accounting; be part qualified (fully qualified accountant desirable) and must have NGO working experience. You will need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and have strong IT skills, including expertise in MS Word and Excel, Outlook and experience of inputting data. Meticulous about detail and well organised, you will also need to be able to plan, organise and prioritise your own workload and willingness to work with partner staff, providing support and to stay away from home for a period of time if required to do so.
