Project Managers / Senior Project Managers

Project Delivery is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of broadcast and technology projects across the whole of the BBC’s estate, working closely with a variety of stakeholders and suppliers – both internal and external.

Our projects cover a wide range of activities: from the roll out of broadcast and business hardware and software systems across the BBC, to building and fitting out broadcast facilities both in the UK and across the world. Although the role is based in London, you can expect some UK and international travel, depending on the nature of the project.

Role Responsibility

We are looking for both Project Managers and Senior Project Managers (BBC Grades 8 & 9).  Please see the attached job descriptions for a more detailed understanding of the roles and responsibilities.

Strong Project Managers. You should have experience of running projects in a broadcast environment or similar (e.g. telecommunications or banking). You will be responsible for running projects through the full lifecycle, from shaping through to handover to the business and support. You will direct day to day project activities and manage a team containing BBC staff and people from external suppliers. You will have control over project budgets and be accountable to the sponsor for delivery of your projects to time, quality and cost.

Good People Managers. You will be the day to day point of contact for a group of stakeholders, with overall responsibility for the performance of the project team. The ability to communicate effectively is crucial when dealing with project team members, stakeholders and external suppliers, many of whom are from a range of cultural backgrounds.

The Ideal Candidate

·     Demonstrable experience of successfully managing projects in a broadcast environment or similar
·     The ability to identify potential sources of risk and the impact on the project.
·     The ability to provide support to those within your team.
·     Experience of hardware installation and/or software deployment.
·     A flexible approach to working hours and ability to travel. Ideally you would be willing to work for short periods of time outside of the UK if required.
·     Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to complete projects within the agreed time, cost and quality criteria.
·     Experience of supplier management.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Project Managers with an interest in technology and the broadcast sector who are looking to work in an exciting, dynamic environment. If you have the ability to transform creative ideas into practical reality and make things happen, please step forward.
