Médecins sans Frontières-Belgium is an international, medical, non-governmental humanitarian organisation that assists populations in distress in more than 60 countries around the world. In Malawi, MSF works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the local community in integrated HIV/AIDS projects in Thyolo and Nsanje districts.

VACANCY ADVOCACY FOCAL POINT - Limbe Coordination Office

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Representation and advocacy at all strategic levels concerning specific issues such as HRH, health funding, drug access and supply and community actions.
• Inform MSF Coordination on countrywide issues relating to the HIV environment in Malawi (key actors, donors, policies, HRH, funding, international and national policies).
• Feed into national policy from MSF Project field experiences and vice versa
• Ensure that MSF’s policies and operational plans take into consideration the HIV/AIDS policy environment and vice versa
• Raise awareness and input into policy processes for specific strategic points (temoignage advocacy), in accordance with the advocacy strategy.
• Establish networks for information sharing and alliances on issues related to HIV
• Develop advocacy strategies regarding HR, supply, funding etc according to the problems encountered and MSF operational priorities.
• Link in with national, regional or international MSF advocacy and communications initiatives.
• Link advocacy to operational research objectives

Requirement for the position:
• Technical qualifications & skills
o Masters/Honours Degree in relevant area e.g. Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies or Political Science Studies
o Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet. Knowledge of designing software such as MS Publisher, Adobe In Design and Photoshop a plus.
o Minimum 2 years of advocacy working experience with an NGO or a health institution.
o Fluent in English and Chichewa, written and spoken
