Abt Associates Inc. seeks candidates for a an Associate / Technical Coordinator position in its International Health Division. The Technical Coordinator will perform technical assignments for one or more international health projects in the International Health Division. S/he will participate in teams that support and carry out technical assistance assignments in health systems strengthening, health policy and governance, institutional and individual capacity building, service/delivery and quality improvement, health promotion and disease prevention, and/or HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Under the guidance and supervision of the Portfolio Manager, the Technical Coordinator will:
Carry out program management for assigned activities. Support designing and /review of major project deliverables. Support defining of scopes of studies and assessments, Advise/support production (drafting, reviewing, revising) and planning of deliverables Review of study reports, periodic reports (annual and quarterly) and other deliverables to the client and others as appropriate. Participate/facilitate in project startup processes, including workshops. Participate/facilitate work planning and budgeting workshops; finalize work plans and budgets for submission. Communicate with missions and/or partners concerning the activities in which they are involved and, when appropriate, brief clients on field and DC-based assignments. Provide technical backstopping to Chiefs of Party or Project Directors and project team, and identify and ensure availability of STTA as found necessary Directly perform or support technical assistance assignments, including field work, research, analysis, writing, and presentations. Produce or contribute to analytic papers and products for specific assignments. Participate in quarterly reviews with Field Offices Travel to project sites to support implementation of project activities and documentation of results/successes. Assist the team to document the project’s reputational capital, success stories and produce other communications materials, as needed Contribute to cross-project knowledge management activities within the International Health Division, including updating project summaries, archiving project documents, and sharing project progress to internal audiences. Contribute to new business development and proposal writing efforts.
Skills Prerequisites:
Masters Degree or PhD in Public Health, Health Management, International Studies, Business Administration, or other relevant field.
At least 7-10 years of professional experience with a Masters Degree, or 4-6 years of experience with a PhD, in complex development programs related to management and implementation of health development or delivery programs in developing country settings.
Experience working in African countries is highly desirable.
Fluency in spoken French, Spanish, Portuguese and solid written competence is desirable.
Ability to work in a team-based environment.
Excellent organizational skills including ability to meet deadlines.
