You will be attached to the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) and will be participating in a three-year FP-7 research program, 'Exploring transition pathways to sustainable, low carbon societies’ (PATHWAYS). The research proposal is available on request from the contact person (Frank Geels). Your principal responsibilitiy will be to assist in analysing socio-technical transition pathways in the UK electricity domain and mobility domains. An additional task will be the analysis of concrete innovation projects related to Manchester’s local transport strategy. The research is expected to result in papers for peer reviewed journals.
You will have a PhD degree in innovation studies or related field, with specialist empirical knowledge in electricity and/or transport domains. You should have familiarity with the transitions literature and demonstrable expertise in performing case study research. You will be expected to collect and process much information in a short period of time, and use theory to creatively identify patterns and mechanisms in the empirical material. You should have excellent English language abilities and experience in writing and publishing journal articles.
The post is available from 1 December 2013 for a period of three years.
