Senior Relief Coordinator - Humanitarian Operations

This is your opportunity to use your senior management experience to improve the lives and futures of some of the world's most vulnerable children.
You can do this by joining World Vision –a global network of people committed to enhance the well-being and protection of children everywhere by empowering them, their families and communities to overcome the challenges of poverty, injustice and disaster.
The Senior Relief Coordinator (SRC) provides leadership to World Vision’s large-scale disaster response operations, strengthens its disaster management capacities, strategies and polices, and contributes to the effectiveness of global humanitarian system through networking and collaboration with key stakeholders.
The SRC is a member of the Humanitarian Operations (H-Ops) Team, a group of disaster response specialists whose purpose is to provide high-quality humanitairan assistance and protection to people impacted by natural calamity and conflict. In the event of a large-scale disaster, the SRC and other members of this team deploy to the affected country in order to provide leadership to World Vision’s disaster response operations. Deployments are often triggered within 24 to 72 hours of a disaster and can last up to 3 months duration. H-Ops team members can be deployed up to a maximum of 6 months in a year.
As overall leader of World Vision’s response to a particular disaster, the Senior Relief Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that operations are well-planned, properly implemented and accountable to key stakeholders (impacted communities, donors, host governments). The SRC must also build relationships with other humanitarian organizations and ensure that response team staff are properly cared for, protected and supported.
During non-deployment periods, the Senior Relief Coordinator supports World Vision’s disaster preparedness and mitigation activities through capacity building, strategic planning, provision of technical expertise, networking and collaboration with other humanitarian organizations, governments, academic institutions and the media. The SRC will also supervise members of the H-Ops team and will at times be called upon to provide strategic coaching to smaller-scale disaster responses implemented by World Vision’s national offices.
As a Humanitarian organisation, we believe that every child born is a precious gift to the entire world and that their well-being concerns us all. We will not rest while children suffer in situations that can be changed. We are looking for people who share our beliefs and our passion.
