ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Livelihoods Expert will design, implement and monitor livelihoods projects of benefit to survivors and communities at risk. Specifically he/she will:
- Be a driving force in developing the livelihoods programmes within the programmatic objectives and in line with livelihood programme strategies;
- Provide technical leadership and support to livelihoods and agricultural projects;
- Develop a detailed livelihood work plan, coordinate implementation of livelihoods activities of the project.
- Work closely with the Programme Manager and the Head of Mission on proposal development;
- Design and oversee context assessments related to Livelihood, based on priorities identified with field teams and senior management;
- Draft a Livelihood and Food Security strategy exploring all options and outlining preconditions required for implementation;
- Develop and ensure timely and smooth monitoring of program progress and impact and make program adjustments accordingly;
- Review and strengthen the livelihoods strategy for the program;
- Build the capacity of national livelihood project staff through structured training and mentorship to implement quality and sustainable livelihood activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS • Degree in Agriculture or related field preferable. • At least 2 year of experience with NGO in Livelihood in humanitarian contexts implementing activities funded by UN donors or ECHO. • Knowledge of the main Organizations’ donors, in particular UN and ECHO procedures and guidelines. • Strong analytical, training, oral and written communication, and team-building skills. • Comfortable with computer use. • Problem solving and organizational capabilities. • English fluency required. • Previous experience in Livelihood cluster leadership or membership is an advantage.
