Research Scientist – Automated Planning and Decision Making

Schlumberger Gould Research Center
Cambridge UK
Salary: £38,000 - £120,000 depending on experience + excellent benefits

The Schlumberger Gould Research Centre offers a stimulating and vibrant research environment with excellent ties to research groups worldwide, a unique combination of fundamental and industrial research into real-world problems, and the opportunity to take part in large-scale international projects.
We are seeking a talented, creative scientist to work in our multidisciplinary team charged with creating novel drilling technologies and techniques to access and enable development of hydrocarbon reservoirs. Achieving reservoir access often involves drilling and navigating through geometrically complex, extended conduits in sometimes unpredictable physical environments to reach targets more than 10 km from the drilling rig.
Schlumberger is developing new drilling systems, which will have high degree of autonomy with supervisory control and will change the way the industry drills wells. As part of our commitment to innovation, the Schlumberger Gould Research Centre is seeking research scientists to focus on the fundamental science and technology needed to develop these systems.
