JOB SUMMARY:
GRI is currently seeking family planning and reproductive health advisors for short and long-term assignments on anticipated USAID-funded health programs around the world. The Senior Advisors will have overall accountability to ensure strategic development and delivery of project results address gender issues and promote the equitable and fair inclusion of women in supply chain assistance.
Possible countries for assignment include: Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, D.R. of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Georgia, Guinea, Haiti, India, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and support in the areas of population, voluntary family planning, and reproductive health.
• Advise country partners, USAID missions, and Task Order Management on developing activities that promote healthy behaviors, broaden contraceptive availability and choices, strengthen policies and systems to address family planning and reproductive needs, and improve data collection use.
• Oversee daily oversight and direction of gender components of task orders, as well as implementation of task order activities and achievement of programming goals
• Ensure implementation is in compliance with the task order contracts and USAID and U.S. government contracting rules and policies
• Provide planning, organization, management, implementation, and reporting services related to commodity forecasting, procurement, and supply chain management
• Ensure the headquarters-based project management unit is responsive to the needs of the field office teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters in public health or similar required; PhD or M.D. a plus.
• Ten (10) years experience developing and managing public health programs for women; 15 years preferred.
• Experience with family planning and reproductive health required.
• Prior Team Lead or Chief of Party experience preferred.
• Experience as a senior public health official strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English required. Fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese strongly preferred.
• Prior experience working on USAID programs preferred.
• Excellent management and administrative skills required. Experience managing global teams strongly preferred.
• High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, U.S. and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
• Self-motivated and well organized.
• Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel to difficult, and sometime dangerous, environments to complete program assignments.
