Qualification and skills      

• University degree in economics, business administration, geography or other related discipline relevant to the assignment;
• Fluency in the English language, strong ability to write and edit documents in English is a prerequisite;
• Knowledge of Portuguese will be a strong asset.

Professional experience

• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience in economic and rural development, with a minimum of 5 years in developing countries, preferably Sub-Saharan Africa;
• Must possess proven experience in identification and formulation of development support, preferably as a team leader;
• The expert must have extensive specific experience related to the assignment, in particular with economic development in rural areas;
• Experience in strategic planning and analysis would be a strong asset;
• Experience with SME development, Business Environment Facilitation, Business Development Services and Trade promotion would be a strong asset.
• Experience in territorial planning, including rural infrastructure will be an asset.
