Regional Media and Communications Manager( Ref INT 1997)- South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe or Mozambique , 2 yr fixed term contract

Oxfam is strengthening its global voice to make positive changes happen in the lives of women and men living in poverty in Southern Africa and it uses the media as a powerful tool to make this happen, With a focus on campaigning, development humanitarian and fundraising efforts, this role will generate high-quality media coverage of Oxfam’s concerns and work through proactive and reactive media work to create and deliver media strategies that influence change, You’ll need to build strong working relationships with the media by working with national and affiliate press offers in the regions (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi and South Africa) We’re looking for someone who can act as a conduit between national and global media colleagues to ensure that messages and quality are consistent and to identify opportunities for collaboration to bolster Oxfam’s profile and elevate its work to the global stage.  You will provide strategic media, communications and social media advice to senior level staff at regional and country level on a day to day basis in the development of plans, matters of brand risk and to maximise communications impact

Prior experience in working with a range of media, ideally within a regional context and with knowledge of global media, is essential, You’ll be able to spot a good story, inspire confidence and use our multi-media skills to help profile Oxfam’s work, Strong influencing, negotiation and sales skills are essential, as are willingness to travel and the ability to communicate clearly in a way that grabs the attention of the media, public and decision makers, You’ll be responsible for shaping the work that affects Oxfam’s public image in return, we can offer you an exciting environment to work creatively within and commitment to your professional development
