Maintenance Officer

Maintenance Officer, Reports to Infrastructure Manager, Upper Neno
 
The primary responsibility of the infrastructure Officer is to oversee the smooth operation and maintenance of all PIH/APZU Infrastructure
 
Primary responsibility if to assist the Infrastructure Manager with all maintenance related operations at PIH’s 2 hospitals and 12 clinics in Neno District, Assist Infrastructure manger in managing and supervising technicians (Electricians, Plumbers, etc) and Coordinators (Landscape, Ground Labors), Supervise PIH Infrastructure staff and follow up on maintenance work orders to ensure their prompt and proper completion, Source and assess quotes for outside contractors for maintenance work, Work with Ministry of Health infrastructure representative to ensure efficient coordination of maintenance efforts across all sites, assist with procurement officer with purchasing of infrastructure materials, This includes travel to Blantyre to inspect materials for quality, Help track use and ensure documentation of materials from the warehouse, Help prepare regular infrastructure status reports, with progress, updates, pictures, material usage and budget information, As needed assist with tasks related to construction and renovations, Provide daily progress reports to supervisor
 
Ability to respond to feedback as related to position responsibilities, Ability to respond to frequently shifting needs with flexibility in a complex environment, Willingness and ability to learn new skills as related to infrastructure, Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with strong individual initiative, Proficiency and experience in computer skills (Word, Excel, Email), Excellent communication and management skills, Those working in hospital facility will have added advantage, Broad knowledge of infrastructure topics (plumbing, electrical, pumps, wastewater systems, masonry), Minimum 5 yrs of experience in construction, building maintenance, or infrastructure, 10+ yrs preferably, Must have MSCE certificate, Minimum 5 yrs of management experience, +10 yrs preferable, City and Guilds/Grade 1 Certificate in building and construction technology,, minimum diploma in civil engineering
