To manage the delivery of high quality development projects in Chilumba, Malawi, and to lead the further development of Determined to Develop, including securing funding.
Overview
Determined to Develop (D2D) is currently recruiting a Program Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the NGO, its projects, and staff; guide the strategic development and growth of the organization; and lead the organization in identifying and writing grants.
This job would suit someone who is interested in building a career in international development, is looking for hands-on experience in the field, and the chance to gain experience at a management level. It is a challenging role, but extremely rewarding, and offers the opportunity to implement projects in a rural area where the impact is tangible. Past PMs have translated their 1-2 years with us into senior positions in larger international organisations.
This post is very unique. You will be living and working in a remote area and in close quarters with your colleagues. Your accommodation is at a social entrepreneurship eco-lodge and community centre, and on the same campus are the NGO’s office and a residential home for over 40 orphaned youth sponsored by D2D. You should be prepared to work long hours, be self-starting, work under minimal supervision and be able to deal with anything that arises.
The position would suit someone who can take initiative, is capable of managing a diverse team, and can effectively lead the growth of D2D. You should be optimistic, resilient, and enjoy a challenge.
Your flights, insurance, visas and related medical costs are not included.
