Training and Research Unit of Excellence - TRUE is a young and vibrant research group at the College of Medicine specialising in high quality malaria and anaemia research, Among other studies, the unit is currently conducting an operational malaria control research project known as the Majete Malaria Project
Site Coordinator – TRUE – Chikhwawa
Appointments will be made on a fixed term basis for 2 yrs which may be renewed depending on performance and availability of funds
To supervise the running of the project studies and activities at the Chikhwawa site according to all applicable protocols
Ensure that the project at the site is managed in accordance with TRUE procedures, To be in-charge of the research site, Contributing team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, To assist in training of study staff and arranging orientation programs for new members of staff, To be responsible for the day to day management and supervision of site staff, To conduct regular site meetings to evaluate and plan site activities, Coordination of all logistics for site activities (including transportation and staff availability), Ensure that all the necessary resources and materials are available to the site and are in line with the study budget, Ensure that site supply stock levels are monitored and procurement requests initiated in a timely manner based upon stock levels or other relevant information/requirements, Maintain an amicable working relationship and clear communications with focal points in the communities, MoH host facilities, and all other stakeholders, Representing or ensuring project’s representation at all necessary district level stakeholder’s meetings, To solve problems relating the site with help from the team leader when necessary and ensure smooth running of the site, Prepare regular progress reports of the site to the team leader and Programme Manager, To be responsible for clinical management of all patients in the study during recruitment and follow up, To perform history taking, physical examination and treatment prescription as per study protocol and Ministry of Health Guidelines, Recording of clinical data in both manual and electronic format
Diploma in Clinical medicine, Degree level nurse or its equivalent from a recognised institution, At least 2 yrs working in a research environment, Those with clinical trials experience will have an added advantage, Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi/Nurses Council of Malawi, Those with GCP Certificate will have an added advantage, Computer literacy, Those with motorcycle and/or motor vehicle licence will have an added advantage
