Junior Research Assistant – 1 post based in Blantyre, initial 1 yr contract with potential for extension
The Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome (MLW) Programme (http://www.mlw.medcol.mw) is an internationally recognised centre for research and research training, funded by the Wellcome Trust in collaboration with the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (COM), MLW would like to engage the services of a competent and dynamic individuals to work in the UNITAD STAR research project at the MLW Research facility as follows:
Reporting to the Senior Research Scientist – Social Studies, the Junior Research Assistant Social Science will contribute to the social components of the UNITAID STAR project, S/he will be principally responsible for the establishment and running of an effective social harms community reporting system across different target populations within the STAR project
Developing and supervising community engagement system, developing and conducting qualitative interviews, In-depth pilot development for self testing delivery to key populations, Communication role within the Behaviour and Health Group
Bachelors degree in a social Science related discipline or diploma with over 5 yrs experience, Experience in mixed methods research methodology and in particular in understanding social behaviour, Good knowledge and demonstrable experience with basic computer packages, Experience of working at community level, particularly in rural environments, Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team, Ability to commit to results and to work out of hours when required in order to achieve them
