Organizational Setting |
The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of the Office of the Deputy Director General, four regional Divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America) and the Division of Programme Support and Coordination. It provides strategic direction for the IAEA's technical cooperation programme, and is responsible (in close collaboration with Member States) for the planning, formulation, implementation and monitoring of the programme, in line with the IAEA's Medium Term Strategy. |
Main purpose |
Under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Coordinator (PC), the Associate Research Officer undertakes TC-related research and analysis work and provides information for documents, policy papers and meetings, as appropriate, with the objective of accomplishing effective and timely execution of the assignments. |
Role |
The Associate Research Officer is: (1) a researcher, monitoring and analysing policy developments on technical cooperation; (2) a liaison officer, communicating with internal/external counterparts ensuring the steady flow of incoming information; (3) an analyst, conducting reviews and assessments, on TC-related issues to contribute to talking points and briefings. |
Partnerships |
The Associate Research Officer interacts with staff in the Department of Technical Cooperation to clarify and obtain information and follow-up on actions on behalf of the Programme Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the Associate Research Officer engages with colleagues in Technical Departments in the IAEA, as appropriate, and supports the Programme Coordinator in interactions with other UN and international organisations, as appropriate. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $46 730 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $29 767*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave,pension plan and health insurance.
