The incumbent will among other responsibilities ensure sharing of lessons learned and provide technical support for the implementation and coordination of adaptation initiatives.
Location:
This position will be located in any of the Eastern & Southern Africa Countries
Main responsibilities:
- Facilitating improved sharing of lessons/ experiences in adaptation for WWF offices through existing media or developing new ones. This will include identifying which tools are already available and where possible gaps are, specifically regarding implementation in Africa.
- Developing communications materials on WWF in Africa's role in adaptation and ongoing activities in collaboration with WWF offices, and participate in relevant regional forum meetings,
- Identifying the support required by involved WWF entities (Country Offices, Programme offices, Network Initiatives, Species coordinators) in terms of planning and vulnerability assessments and assisting to develop the plans and undertake the vulnerability assessments
What you need:
Required Qualifications- An advanced degree in environmental, natural or social science.
- 10 years relevant experience in environmental and developing fields, including in the following areas: Climate change adaptation, experience in undertaking vulnerability assessments and climate change adaptation planning is preferred.
- Project and programme design, management, monitoring and evaluation, including budget development and management.
- Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Experience working with African governments
- High level negotiation, collaborating and influencing skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels Have networks at the highest levels of Government and Business and civil society;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment in Africa
