Assistant Farm Operations Manager
Exagris Africa Limited (EAA) was incorporated in Malawi in April 2008, building on an established farming business, Following acquisition of another agricultural business in April 2010, the company now farms approximately 6,000 ha or estates across Malawi, on which approximately 3,000 ha are arable, The company’s farming enterprises are complemented by an outgrower programme dealing with paprika and bird’s eye chillies from across all 3 regions of Malawi, Furthermore, the company runs development programs to support communities surrounding its farms

Assistant Farm Operations Manager
Planning: feeding into farm level operational plans based on cropping plan, Implementing, procurement procedures through farm admin section, in liaison with head office procurement section, Supervision of and support to, Farm Managers/Section Managers (as applicable), Farm Administrator, Workshop Supervisor, Head of Farm Security, Grading Shed Manager/Supervisor, Ensuring that team tasks, information and equipment are provided efficiently, Records: contribute to development and use of crop records, crop ledgers to record production costs, harvest trackers to record yields, climate data and other records mandated from time to time, Keep an orderly and easily accessible systems of filing correspondence and technical information received from Head Office, other stakeholders of the business, and information generated at farm level, Developing on –farm research trials with consistent with farm plans, in liaison with research organisations and Exagris trials unit, Contribute to analysis and development of crop production specifications with the aim of sustainable increases in productivity and quality, Developing progressive technical specifications for management of each crop enterprise to contribute to group knowledge bank, any other duties assigned from time to time, At least 4 yrs experience in a similar field of work, Holder of Diploma or above in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agriculture Engineering, Irrigation, Farm Management or a related field from an accredited institution, Experience in production of at least 4 of the following: Hybrid seed maize, Groundnuts, Dry beans/Soyas, Paprika, Commercial maize, Sunflower, Wheat and Macadamia, Experience of growing, processing and organizing crops for export preferable, Experience of managing irrigated crop production will be an added advantage, Technical knowledge of agrochemical and fertilizer programme implementation, A positive and pro-active attitude towards company efforts to build healthy relationships with local communities and to contribute towards their development through services provided at farm level, and trough donor funded agricultural projects, Aptitude for team building, consultative management decisions and a strong awareness of the actors influencing staff motivation and performance, Strong Excel skills and desire to become proficient in using it for producing reporting schedules and analysis of operations
