A not for profit Non-Governmental Organisation has received financing from USAID towards the cost of implementation of  5 yr Fisheries Integration of Society and Habitats (FISH) project.  An immediate vacancy for the post of Assistant Accountant has arisen to support FISH project
 
Ensure good stewardship of organization resources and the integrity of financial management systems in the FISH Project that they are according to acceptable standards, organisation and donor policies and regulations and local laws.   Will work closely with the Secretariat Director, Development Management Associates (DMA), Christian Aid and other WESM staff 
 
Prepare payment vouchers ensuring that the vouchers are adequately supported, Any other duties assigned from time to time, Assist in external/internal audit assignments, Ensuring that advances are liquidated on time and that all necessary expenditure returns are verified and approved accordingly, Timely remittance of APYE and other taxes to MRA, Preparation of payroll ensuring that it is properly supported with approved timesheets, Performing bank reconciliations, Posting financial data into the accounting system, Prepare documents for VAT claims, Maintaining an update analysed project expenditure report summaries against the budget, Alert management on any adverse expenditure, Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual budgets and pipeline reports, Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual project financial reports
 
Diploma in Accounting )ICAM) and at least 2 yrs experience in busy finance department, Ability to understand and implement WESM policies and procedures, Good analytical skills with ability to make on the spot sound judgement and decisions, Excellent computer skills, Good oral and written communication skills with fluency in English
