Exagris Africa Limited (EAA) was incorporated in Malawi in April 2008, building on an established farming business, Following acquisition of another agricultural business in April 2010, the company now farms approximately 6,000 ha or estates across Malawi, on which approximately 3,000 ha are arable, The company’s farming enterprises are complemented by an outgrower programme dealing with paprika and bird’s eye chillies from across all 3 regions of Malawi, Furthermore, the company runs development programs to support communities surrounding its farms
The company intends to recruit energetic, result-oriented, honest, dynamic, hardworking, self starter and business minded professionals in the following position;
Agronomist – Exagris Africa Limited (EAA)
Technical Auditing of all crop production programmes, suggesting cost-effective improvements where necessary and assisting in technical aspects of procurement of fertilizers and agrochemicals, Overseeing operations support analyst responsible for liaison with seed services unit and compilation of soil records, Documentation of crop data throughout the growing season and production of ‘yield factor; reports to feed into production decision for the next season, Documentation of agronomy programme for each crop in the form of reference manuals, as well as some general agronomic practices as the lead in agronomy manual development and editing teams, Using the above to extract appropriate training material and to train farm staff at various levels, Contribute towards the development of EAA strategic plan in terms of seed production and marketing, including aspects of seed promotion with small holder communities, This may include elements of in-house crop selection/breeding in some crops, Oversee design, implementation and reporting on on-fram trials designed to refine agronomic practices in each agro-ecology, In implementing the above, to collaborate with research partners and customers within and beyond Malawi, Any other duties assigned from time to time
At least 3 yrs experience in a similar field of work, Holder of Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy or related field from an accredited institution, Experience in production of the following: Seed Maize, Groundnuts, Paprika, Chillies, Cotton, Beans, soya, Cassava and Pasture, Experience of managing irrigated crop production
