Trainee Leaf Technicians - Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Limited
Will report to the Area Field Supervisor (AFS) and ultimately to the Senior Agronomist
Responsible for daily management of a Contract Tobacco Production scheme of approx 150 ha, Demonstrating and teaching farmers Good Tobacco Production practices and through Demonstrations and Field days conducted at Demo/Model farmer sites, Distribution of Inputs and Recoveries of Tobaccos grown by our farmers, Data collection and surveys conducted throughout the growing season using smartphones, Maintenance of harmonious relations with farmers and the surrounding community as the Ambassador for Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Ltd and our Social Responsibility Projects
MSCE and either a Diploma in Agriculture obtained from a recognised university or college, or certificate in Tobacco production recognized, Have Operational and Field experience in Agricultural Production, Agricultural Finance or Commercial Agriculture Management, Not less than 3 yrs experience in tobacco growing business would be an advantage
Motivated, confident, self starter with good communication, planning and management skills, Trustworthy with integrity, accountability and moral convictions, Recognizing the importance of personal performance and achieving targets in a Commercial Business, Socially responsible with a passion for improving farmer livelihoods, caring for our planet through planting of trees and being an advocate for principles of Agriculture Labour Practice laws, Technology conversant and able to use sms, email and internet, Ability to ride a motorcycle would be an advantage although training will be given
