Enrolled Nurses to work as Field Officers – BICO – Blantyre Institute for Community Ophthalmology

Blantyre Institute for Community Ophthalmology is a local registered charitable Eye Health Non Governmental Organisation (NG) that works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Education and other international NGOs and many academic institutions including the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

BICO is recruiting enrolled nurses (with a Certificate in Nursing) to support the MORDOR-Malawi project, Mortality Reduction after Oral Azithromycin in Malawi, The post holders will be based in Mangochi BICO offices for at least one yr and will work with other members of the MORDOR team to monitor record and investigate causes of child mortality in selected villages

In particular the Enrolled nurses will be working with children aged less than 5 yrs and responsible for
Enumeration/Census/surveillance, Verbal autopsies, Anthropometry, Stores/drug management, Collecting other specimens, Collecting blood for Rapid tests for malaria and other tests

Individuals holding a certificate in general nursing, Registered with the Nursing Council, Aged less than 30 yr sold, Must have less than 5 yrs working experience, Must not have graduated in nursing earlier than the year 2010, Must not be permanently working for Ministry of Health (In Govt or CHAM hospitals) currently, Those with a computer experience (able to use Excel and Word) will be an added advantage

New graduates those without research experience and those not currently in full permanent employment but have proper nursing qualification are particularly encouraged to apply
