Programme Coordinator – 3 yr Contract (Ntchisi) – ActionAid

ActionAid Malawi is a locally registered non-governmental organisation under the Company’s Act limited by Guarantee and is an affiliate of ActionAid International, a federation of national organisations working in over 45 countries in Africa, Asia, Americas and Europe regions, ActionAid has been working in Malawi since 1991 and works in partnership with communities, community based organisations, civil society, social movements, and govts, across the world to fight and eradicate poverty, injustice and exclusion, We work with and support poor and excluded people in the struggle to demand and claim their rights, Action Aid’s work is focused around women’s rights, rights to education, food security, just and democratic governance, human security and in HIV and AIDS
 
should be a passionate and mature individual able to coordinate programme development, implement n and manage thematic programmes and/or projects in line with ActionAid Malawi’s Country Strategy Paper at the Local Rights Programme (LRP) level ( a defined target Area) using the Human Rights Based Approach to Programming,  the Programme Coordinator also leads her/his team in providing technical and management support to programmes, projects and partners and represents the organisation in the district and at local levels, The position reports to the Regional and Thematic Manager, Central Region
 
Managing programme development and implementation Managing Accountability, Learning and planning Systems (ALPS) related accountabilities (Programme appraisal, planning, strategy development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Impact Assessment),  Managing LRP resources including finances, Mobilising and building of People’s movements, Ensuring mainstreaming and a focus on women’s rights issues, Leadership and managing fundraising and sponsorship, Managing Organisational development support for partners, Taking responsibility for General Management, Administration, Undertake other Corporate functions
 
We are inviting applications form persons able to work with minimum supervision, Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or related development field from a recognised University and at least 3 yrs post qualification experience in development management
 
Knowledge of participatory methods and processes such as Reflect, STAR, Stepping Stones, Participatory Vulnerability Analysis and other  is essential, Applicant should have a good understanding of Human Right Based Approaches to development, adequate knowledge in women’s rights, Governance, HIV and AIDS, Education and Food and Nutrition Security, Ability to adequately document progress, outcomes, emerging issues and lessons learnt is essential too, Excellent analytical, communication, coordination and interpersonal skills are expected, A strong motivation to contribute significantly to achieving social change and ability to work with minimum supervision are critical to performing the job excellently, A clean and valid driving licence is an added advantage
