Audit and Risk Adviser – embassy of Ireland
The Embassy of Ireland is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our organisation, The Adviser will provide independent and objective audit assurance and services designed to add value to and improve the organisation’s operations
The duties involved combine the development and management of an audit work programme in line with Irish Aid’s audit policy, The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the development of audit policies and practices and advise on risk management tools appropriate to the Irish Aid programme in Malawi, Specifically, duties will include ensuring that the audit of partner organisations takes place and that reports are received and analysed provision of advice to management on risks, providing support to the public financial management function in the Embassy and maintaining relations with eternal auditors, Office of the Auditor Genera and other donor organisations and working groups, The role may also require undertaking specific audit and value for money type assignments and special investigations as required, The adviser will be responsible for ensuring that all Irish Aid funded projects and partners comply with internal accountancy
norms and standards including assessment of all new partner organisations’ accountancy systems, S/he will be responsible for commissioning specific audits if and when required, The Audit and Risk Adviser is also required to prepare a variety of reports on audit issues for HQ
An internationally recognised accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA, Detailed knowledge and experience of public financial management systems, A minimum of 5 yrs post qualification experience and experience in a development agency or international NGO at a senior level would be an advantage, Previous experience in an audit firm would also be an advantage, Excellent computer skills in a range of accounting packages to interrogate systems and produce information and reports, Good interpersonal skills, including negotiation skills, to work with senior members of staff at the Embassy as well as with partners on audit issues, A very high level of personal integrity
The salary is set according to a scale, starting point of with is Mk1,222,818 per month, The salary is subject to PAYE
