Organizational Setting |
The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of the Office of the Deputy Director General, four regional Divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Latin America) and the Division of Programme Support and Coordination. It provides strategic direction for the IAEA's technical cooperation programme, and is responsible (in close collaboration with Member States) for the planning, formulation, implementation and monitoring of the programme, in line with the IAEA's Medium Term Strategy. The Division of Programme Support and Coordination (TCPC) is responsible for the development, promotion and consistent application of strategies, policies, standards, tools and systems to support the TC programme. This includes quality assurance and enhanced results-based programme management, training and capacity development, expanded cooperation through existing and new partnerships and resource mobilization, efficient management of financial resources, data and information, as well as outreach and reporting. The Strategy and Partnership Section (TCSPS) is responsible for the creation and enhancement of partnerships with interested States, UN organizations, multilateral financial institutions and regional development and other relevant bodies to optimize complementary activities and develop action programmes for funding. TCSPS develops and promotes technical cooperation strategies based on programmatic trends and capacity requirements; links technical cooperation programme priorities to the global development agenda; and promotes the integration of the TC programme in development frameworks. |
Main purpose |
Reporting to the Section Head, the Associate Programme Officer provides project management, reporting and analytical support to the Section Head, within the different working areas, with the objective of accomplishing effective and timely execution of the assignments. |
Role |
The Associate Programme Officer is: (1) a specialist, preparing and coordinating the compilation of narrative reports to donors under the leadership of the Section Head; (2) an analyst, conducting reviews and assessments on global development issues and preparing policy briefs. |
Partnerships |
The Associate Programme Officer consults with and provides services to TCSPS, colleagues in TCPC, the office of the Deputy Director General TC, and the TC Regional Divisions according to approved work processes and ensures that reporting schedules and corresponding quality standards are met. Under the supervision of the Section Head, the Associate Programme Officer engages with colleagues in technical departments in the IAEA, as appropriate, and supports the Section Head in TCSPS in interactions with Permanent Missions before, during and after meetings of the Policy-Making Organs. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $46 730 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $29 767*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave,pension plan and health insurance.
