Opportunity Bank Malawi is seeking an energetic, aggressive and self-motivated individual to joint its team to work in the position of Chief Operating Officer
 
Accountable for driving improvements in the Risk and Audit profile within the COO function, Responsible for driving a culture of full compliance to laid down policies and procedures, Develops and implements procedures and controls to ensure security and accountability and accurate information flow within the organisation, Maintains a sound plan of corporate organisation, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession, Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organisation’s current activities and its projected growth, Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range operational plans and budgets to support the wider organisational business goals and growth objectives, Examines current business processes and makes necessary changes to implement best practices, Chairs the Audit Finding Review Committee to ensure that all Audit findings are closed on or ahead of their due dates, which they pass Issues Assurance and that repeat audit findings are eliminated, Participates in the design of hardware and software systems to assist in the smooth and efficient flow of information and continuity of the bank’s core operations, Establishes operating policies consistent with the Chief Executive Officer’s broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution, Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the chief executive officer
 
Supervisory Responsibilities - Is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, planning, coordination and evaluation of Branch Management and Control, Operations, Branch Operational Rigour, Procurement and Administration, Premises and Maintenance, Security and Project Office, Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organisation’s policies and applicable laws, Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees,; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
 
Bachelors Degree in a business related subject or Minimum of 7+ yrs progressively responsible Banking or savings and Loan and Operations work experience with a minimum of 5+ yrs in a supervisory or management capacity, Possess a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, micro-finance loan operations, loan processing, quality assurance and loan servicing,  Is knowledgeable of the principles, practices and legal issues relating to staff supervision and performance management, strategic planning and budget administration, Understands concepts, standards and procedures relating to individual and group relating to individual lending, as they pertain to micro-finance, Demonstrated ability to understand/analyse performance/production data to identify improvement opportunities: manage complex projects that impact operations effectively and within time and budget; ensure policies, procedures, risk parameters and guidelines of organisation are met; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, Proven commercial skills in business development, marketing and client relationship building, Excellent organisation, communication, delegation, performance Management, Leadership and Team Building experience skills and training
