Field Officer (SPLASH Project)
The Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) is a relief and development arm of the Catholic Church, It aims at creating awareness and empowering disadvantaged men, women and the youth at all levels to undertake development which is integral, gender and environment sensitive, sustainable and which promotes justice, human dignity and self reliance with the active participation of the people themselves so that they take up responsibility of their own destiny
CADECOM of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe is implementing a number of projects including Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction Water and Hygiene (SPLASH and WASH) programs, ECRP, village Security and Water Programmes among others.
In collaboration with relevant school authorities and in liaison with District Education Managers’ office, plan and execute water supply activities in designation schools, With the support of the District Coordination Team build the capacity of School Management Committees to manage effectively and sustain WASH facilities and services provided under the SPLASH project, In collaboration with designated Primary Education Advisors facilitate and coordinate School-led Total Sanitation (SLTS) in impact schools, Monitor and ensure that construction of school water and sanitation facilities are according to Govt of Malawi approved and agreed specification with contractors, Coordinate with WASH and Education stakeholders at all levels (District zones), Coordinate SLTS and support activities of School Sanitation Clubs in the designated areas, Facilitate and coordinate Community-led Total Sanitation activities in targeted communities, Facilitate community trainings related to water and sanitation, In collaboration with local stakeholders, identify Sanitation Entrepreneurs and facilitate their training in Sanitation Marketing, Coordinate Baby WASH activities in Community Based Childcare Centers (CBCCs) in the target districts and ensure that the intervention is implemented according to set guidelines and standards, Compile project progress reports with relevant case studies for sharing with Project Management Team, govt partners and other stakeholders and sector players
At least 2 yrs of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following Community Development, Public Health, Environmental Science and Technology, Environmental Health and any related qualification from a recognised institution, Those with Diploma and advanced undergraduate certificates in relevant fields and with more than 5 yrs experience in implementing similar projects will be considered, Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills, Computer literate and ability to work within tight deadlines
