Reporting to the Teen Club Pediatrician Liaison, the counselor will be responsible for provision of high-quality psychosocial counseling services to patients, S/he will work closely with social work, assist in the psychosocial assessment of patients, and will participate in conducting trainings on the provision of psychosocial counseling and care to adolescents living with HIV,. To help improve our service delivery, the incumbent will ensure delivery of the under-prescribed duties and responsibilities in compliance with the existing Baylor college of Medicine Standard Operating procedures and Malawi Mental Health Act
 
Carrying out routine psychological assessments on our patients/clients, Developing and providing individual, family and group based therapeutic interventions, Ensure proper documentation and maintain confidential records concerning clients and general matters related to work, Conduct regular evaluation and improvement of all counselling services and assist in strengthening existing programmes offered by the department, Link with other sections of the institution and when necessary to provide consultation counseling services to other relevant staff/dept/services, Provide mentorship and training in psychosocial counselling services, Participate in public health research and other related development that are appropriate and relevant to the clients and service needs, Attend all clinic meetings in our multidisciplinary team approach setting, Ensure that all clients benefit from Psychosocial Counselling Assessment and appropriate intervention plan is drawn for reach client, Ensure that relevant feedback is given to health care providers who refereed the client for psychosocial counseling services in an appropriate and timely manner, Undertake other duties as assigned
 
Minimum of Diploma in Pyscho-Social Counseling from a recognised institution, 2 yrs experience, Excellent communication skills in Chichewa and English, Ability to listen patiently and carefully, High respect and care for adolescents living with HIV, Ability to work in a team oriented environment a must, Ability to work some weekends is a MUST, Those with experience in working with adolescents living with HIV will have an added advantage
