Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Malawi
We are currently seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager for an upcoming USDA-funded multi-year program in Malawi. The project aims to improve Malawi’s SME agro-processing sector for value addition and increased trade in key value chains, including groundnuts, legumes, fruits, vegetables, and sweet potatoes. The position is contingent upon ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.
Responsibilities:
  • Guide the technical direction of the M&E approach and strategy; oversee and coordinate work related to monitoring and evaluation activities of the project.
  • Oversee impact analysis in the areas of private sector development, value-added processing, and investment facilitation.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings on monitoring and evaluation topics for staff and project clients.
  • Ensure M&E data management systems are utilized, updated regularly, and managed properly.
  • Report on progress toward targets from performance measurement indicators.
  • Coordinate M&E activities with local and international partners.
  • Build the capacity of local organizations to be effective in knowledge management and learning.
  • Apply GIS tools to improve decision-making and management for results.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in evaluation, public policy, quantitative economics, and/or related field is required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive professional experience in monitoring and evaluation of international development projects.
  • Skills in quantitative data collection and analysis are required. Candidates should be highly organized and able to regularly present performance results from the project in a clear manner.
  • Experience in Malawi or the Southern Africa region is highly desirable.
  • Experience on agriculture-related projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of different M&E tools, approaches, and methods in addition to experience working with grant making organizations.
  • Working experience in training, coaching and mentoring teams in monitoring-related techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge and past experience with GIS tools is desirable.
